The Knight's Tale
In times of Old, when Knights were bold
And days were wet and foggy
Lived Belvedere, a gallant knight,
And Archibald, his doggy.
The bold Sir Belvedere rode out
To slay a mighty dragon,
And Archibald tagged on behind -
His little tail a waggin'.
The dragon snorted from his lair
"Who dares 'gainst me come riding?"
"Tis I," Bold Belvedere replied
(But Archibald was hiding).
Against the mighty foe he fought,
Uphill, down dale, all over;
And Archie saw the battle rage
But he stayed under cover.
Now see, the dragon overcomes,
Sir Belvedere is flagging
And as they pass the hiding place
Young Archie's tail starts wagging.
He cannot see his master fail,
Or lose his spurs for ever;
Brave Archibald will save the day -
And think of something clever.
He charges, nips the dragon's tail,
It's wrath 'gainst him is turned
The Knight recovers, grabs his sword ...
Young Archie's tea is earned.
Sir Belvedere cuts off its head,
Triumphant homeward goes.
He'll get the credit and reward,
But Archibald - he knows!
