Writing

fanfiction.net

I have mixed attitudes towards this site. It's big and visible, but the moderation is terrible - it can take months for anything at all to be done about a problem. On the other hand, it's where everyone goes. Just be warned of the problems if you decide to use it.

fictionpress.com

Essentially ff.net with original fiction instead of fanworks. I don't have an account there, but I thought you might be interested.

Webcomics

Kevin and Kell (PG) by Bill Holbrook.

A very good webcomic about a rabbit who is married to a wolf. Weird, yeah, but if you like furry animals and also like The Simpsons or a similar show, you can't help but love this. I see myself so much in Lindesfarne, and baby Coney is adorable.

Something Positive (R / 15), Midnight Macabre (PG-13 / 12) and New Gold Dreams (PG) by Randal K. Milholland.

I can't even remember when I found SP, but I've been a faithful reader for quite a while. Mr Milholland is the only person I know who can make the concept of being indecently assaulted by Redneck Trees funny, though I'm not entirely sure if that's a good thing. Most of the humour isn't quite that sick, although the boneless cat Choo-Choo Bear comes close. MM and NGD are spin-offs of the same comic, and equally funny but a lot less sick, at least so far.

Boy Meets Boy (R / 15) and Friendly Hostility (R / 15) by K. Sandra Fuhr.

BMB has been discontinued, but the archive is still there for the forseeable future, and FH is still going strong. I advise you to set aside a couple of days to go through the archives. Funny punchlines, and very very cute art style. Warnings for boy-on-boy romance content in both series, but the title of BMB sort of made that warning redundant, didn't it?

Misc

Tom Smith Online

Great filksongs, among other stuff. The songs are the main part, though, and include the famous and very sad "A Boy and his Frog" (in honour of Jim Henson *sobs, salutes Muppets logo*) and the hysterical "Cthulhu Fthagn" sung to the tune of "Hakuna Matata". (An alternate version of this song is available here, which just goes to show you shouldn't let Toons read horror stories. I was tempted to sing it at school, but I'm the only one who'd understand it.)

RinkWorks

A collection of mixed funny stuff. After reading "It's A Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad Movie" I have now vowed to see "Plan 9 From Outer Space" at least once. "Computer Stupidities" and "Things People Said" are absolutely beautiful. To quote PeeJee of Something Positive (see above) "Nothing helps me unwind from a stressful week like seeing someone else dealing with annoying people."
